In the olden days, Woraiyur was the capital of the Chola dynasty, For so many years, Kings Administrated the whole Kingdom from Woraiyur. Woraiyur is the birthplace of Sri Thiruppan Alwar, who is one of the famous Alwars who devoted Perumal and followed Sri Vaishnava, Kamalavalli Nachiyar temple has one pond called Surya Pushkarani and the Vimanam called Kalyana Vimanam. Sri Kamalavalli Nachiyar and Sri Azhagiya Manavalan were faced towards the south direction.

History of Woraiyur Temple -
The Kings of the Chola Dynasty had done many services to Lord Vishnu. King Nandha Chola is a great human, a great devotee of Lord Vishnu, he also done many services to Sri Renganatha Swamy Temple of Srirangam. But the King doesn't have any child so devoted and requested a child to Lord Ranganathan. One day while the king was going hunting, he saw a girl baby over a lotus in the pond in the forest King saw that the baby girl has the features of Lakshmi thayar and returned to the palace.
King named that baby girl Kamalavalli, In Sanskrit Kamalavalli, means A Bridge that connects a Soul of a Devotee to Lord Vishnu. After some days Kamalavalli got the age of marriage and with great love and devotion, she has married Lord Namperumal. So Namperumal had kept his representative idol as Azhagiya Manavalan but Namperumal is orginal perumal of this Divyadesam.
One in a year, On the sixth day of the Panguni Aadhi Bramotsavam Festival Srirangam Namperumal will arrive at Woraiyur Sri Kamalavalli Nachiyar Temple and conducts Sethi Festival where Sri Namperumal and Sri Kamalavalli Nachiyar will sit on one bench and showers the blessings to Devotees, this is one of the most important festivals of Srirangam. One of the amazing facts is, Till today if we go for the darshan of Sri Kamalavalli Nachiyar will have looks very young as a newly married woman. One of the other names of Woraiyur is Kozhi, the reason for this name is once the elephant of Chola king arrived at this place and started to destroy the city, A Rooster got angry and which got blessings from lord shiva and defeated the elephant which run away from the village, the courage of the Rooster becomes a name as Kozhi in Tamil.
